Maybe someone on the list can shed some light on a problem I am having.
Martin was nice enough to send me a few programs I had lost when my SE30 was
stolen. Because some of them are larger programs, he split them up into
self-extracting archives. ("sea" files) Because I can only connect to the
internet using my PC, I just took the sea files from my email box, DL'd them
to my PC's HD, burned them to a CDR, then copied them over to the CC by way
of the CC's external CDROM drive. When I tried to open the sea files on the MAC, a box popped up saying that the program that created the files could not be found. I tried extracting them using Stuffit, and a current version of DiskDoubler, but both programs only created another copy of the sea files, which put me back at square one again. The general consensus when looking on the web for solutions is that sea files are stand-alone, and should work regardless of what programs you have on your Mac. So this puts me in a very confusing position. If you have a PC, this is almost like someone giving you an executable program (EXE file) then when you try to open it, the PC tells you that the program that created it cannot be found. EXE files do not need a specific program to run them, as the installer is built-in to the file itself. I am assuming that it is the same case with SEA files. Any ideas folks?
