Sourced two Daystar Turbo '040 cards for my SE/30. One seems to be an earlier model with a black connector. The second (with white connector) has a large chip replacing many smaller ones, but the same general layout. (ie 20 odd chips compared to about 30-odd)
The first has a 68LC040RC33B. The second has a full 040/33 and a larger heatsink. Both have 16.667Mhz TTL oscillators. If I plug the Turbo into the SE/30 adapter and then to the Asante ethernet (via 120-pin right-angle female DIN), the stack is about 8.5" (22cm) high! If I can ever source an Xceed, I'll have to get creative :-) My question: On the first (earlier) one, there appears to be a 100-pin connector on the back/top of the board. Two rows of 50 pins. NOT present on the other card. Anybody know what this is? Some sort of pass-through or daughter-card mount? Luke -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
