Are you sure it is nubus? It always appears if there is no ethernet connection or if you don't have a driver matching your card. It could also occur from a bad card, but I suspect in your case it is the wrong driver. Note that once you see that error, the appletalk connection switches to the printer port, so you are going nowhere until you can clear that. Drivers for these old cards are installed as resources inside the System file (by the Asante installer program, for example). I specifically sought out a NetGear MR314 router for my home network because I knew I would need appletalk and most of the wireless routers block it.
