My SE/30 has also had this problem for one or two months now, but yesterday I finally tried cleaning the motherboard the way you (and others) described.
And now I put back everything back together, and IT WORKS! No more startup delays, no more weird patterns on the screen, and no more strange noises from the internal speaker! I know that 24 hours haven't passed yet, but I really couldn't wait to try it out. But to let the remaining moisture, if there is any, disappear, I've again opened op the case to dry further, but I think I can already say that it worked. Unfortunately our digital camera wasn't at home when I did the cleaning itself, because I think it would be funny to put a picture of the mainboard in the water on my website :-) Daan.
