Hi, Sorry but did I miss something? All PC's can read 720K format floppies,
and a Plus will be able to as well. You SHOULD be able to format your HD
floppies as DD. At the a command prompt on any PC (Windows or Dos) you type
format a:/F:720 to get a 720k disk. Now maybe I am wrong, but wont the Plus
see it as a "IBM Disk" and write to it?

You are wrong; it won't.

Early Macs, like Apple ][s, used quite non-standard ways of encoding and writing data to floppies, including making the rotational speed variable!

There were controllers and drives produced that fitted inside PCs to read/write Apple 400Kb and 800Kb discs, but there's no other way of getting data between using floppies.

Once 1.4Mb drives arrived in the SE FDHD, the problems were over.
