I don't think leaving compact Macs powered on all day is a good idea. An
screensaver can reduce the burning of the CRT's phosphor, but CRTs also age
in other parts, and the only way to avoid it is to completely powering down
CRT monitors when not in use. Since you can't do that in a compact, you
should power it off when you aren't going to use it in the next thirty
minutes.
It's not just CRT's that age in compact Macs. The analogue board and PSU is very marginal in 128 and 512K compacts and the later revisions for the Plus were only slightly more reliable. Smoke and flames were not uncommon when these Macs were three or four years old so leaving them on all day after twenty years is not safe practice. The SE and later models are more robust but make sure that the fan is working well and check the temperature of the side of the case after the Mac has been operating for some time.
