I heartily endorse Stuart's recommendations. Although the original intention by
the designers was that the compacts could be left on 24/7, the sad truth is that
only a small fraction of these macs can really survive a long time when operated
continuously. There are components in the power supply that would be considered
marginal even if a fan were present. Without a fan, they get quite toasty and age
very fast. Yes, there are always a few "golden" machines in any production run
that outperform the average (and a few lemons at the other extreme of the
distribution). But *on* average, you can't reasonably expect these machines to run
100% of the time without complaint.
