The FP iMac in my room uses a standard 5.25 inch drive, like you would use in a tower computer. The drives in the original iMacs were IDE laptop drives, the same 24x ones that went into the Lombard model. If you're going to convert to one of those, get a CDRW. Laptop drives are all the same as far as the connector goes. Well, with a few exceptions - the Apple 3400, Original G3, and Wallstreet G3 all had a non-standard connection. Heck, if you look at the pictures of the new G5 iMac, you can see that it still uses a laptop drive. The iMac has never been more than a Powerbook in a different case.
