Hello,
I just want to mention that this auction is there on a regular basis, lets say for the last 4-5 month.
And it always ended without bids......

Hi folks,

just stumbled across this auction:

If it were an English language auction, I'd make some 'innocent'
enquiries of the seller. Any German speakers around here want to do so?

Stuart

I did. Here's what I asked the seller (translated in the language of the list:)

What are the denominations on the front bezel nameplate and on the back
label? Are you sure that Ethernet is onboard (i.e., built-in on the
mainboard? Neither the CCII nor the old All-in-Ones had this. Or is it a
CommSlot- or PDS-Card? What a pity the history of this computer can't be
retraced more precisely. The hardware as an exchangeable mainboard from
the 575 existed from February 1994 on and was fully compatible with the CC,
albeit with an LC PDS and CommSlot and without Ethernet onboard; the Colour
Classic existed in Great Britain. I'm amazed at the OS 7.1 version: are you
sure that it came from Apple in this form (in German!) or could someone
have had a go at it with ResEdit? Do you have a picture of the motherboard
with the Ethernet connection on it and the original System Disks? If yes,
the machine would be a real hoot and worth the money.

And this is the answer I got, translated:

Hello,
that's quite a lot of questions. Let's see what I can do:
Front bezel nameplate is a platinum. I thought I had linked it in the auction:
www.deschler-web.de/Bilder/PPCsilber.JPG
(if you look at the auction pics, there are two different front views: one
shows an unreadable normal nameplate below the "Macintosh" printing, the
other shows the plain aluminum nameplate you can find in the link - OM)
I once was on very good terms with Apple, when I was given some precious
gems by Ismaning (the Munich suburb where Apple Germany used to have her
headquarters - OM), amongst others this PCC. There is another one in Japan
- to my knowing - as I have been in contact with a collector living there
on behalf of "his" PCC.
The board contains the EtherCard - see description and pictures of the auction.
The software is positively beta, I poked around in some system infos and
kept finding this beta version.
BTW an update of the OS fails as a rule. I tried a mirrored HD with OS 8;
8.5e; 9; and 9.2.1 with no luck. There seems to be a peculiar ROM, too,
because the PCC doesn't get recognised in any installation menu.
Original System Disks don't exist - logically in prototypes. I only made a
backup of the hard disk to make sure nothing goes lost in all these "tests"
:-)))

Just have a look at my -as I thought it was - complete description in the
auction with all the pictures and links to pictures.

Now go ahead and compare my questions with his answers and missing answers.
My impression is the seller has a certain knowledge of Macs, but in some
instances he is strangely unclear; maybe he was given or sold the machine
with a faked story and tried to figure out the "misssing links" but didn't.
As long as I don't see the "last change" flags in the system software files
(and can be sure they're not fakes) the thing is not kosher to me. BTW, the
auction ended with no bids (starting bid was 299 Euros).

Cheers, OM
