"Mr. and Mrs. Betz are proud to announce that..." Oh sorry, wrong text. My
wife would kill me for this. But I finally laid hands on one of the
often-talked-about-and-never-seen "1/20" marked education-market relaunch
SEs ("Studenten-SE"). The only distinction outside is the front bezel
printing "Macintosh SE 1/20". The sticker on the back only says "Macintosh
SE", model number M5011, serial number M*CK029HNC70. I guess it was
produced in 1989. It has - as the only change to the spartan 1/20 concept -
a RAM upgrade to 4 MB, an FDHD and (this is what surprised me most) a
flawlessly working Miniscribe 20 MB HD just like my very first Mac, a 800k
SE, in 1988 had. No screen burn-in and no yellowing on the case.

It always excites me to unwrap and start such an old machine that had its
last change maybe in 1994 or 1996. It is a time capsule, a snapshot of its
era and of the people using it at the time. Of course, I delete all the
personal files, but getting in contact with Exel 2.2 and MacWrite II again
brings back some memories.
If someone wants a picture of this thing with the unusual front printing,
feel free to mail me, I have my Nikon 995 ready.

Happy in the Black Forest, OM
