Hi Steve, that's what I would do, except that rather weirdly, I started not being able to boot up the LC 520 with the drive attached. I don't know what triggered the change, cause it was working fine before, but now I can't boot up the LC 520 if the SCSI drive is even attached - it doesn't even have to be powered on - and I get an error that says there's a system error and that I should reboot with extensions off, which I do, but then I get the same error message. Very weird.

But my latest idea when I have time is to put Mount Everything, I think it's called, on a floppy, install that on the Plus, and then use that to mount a diskcopy 4 image of the installer. I think I have an image. I'll report back on my progress.

Working on the vintage macs, it always seems to come down to file transfers and the obstacles on the way! Ah well, it's always a cross between a hobby and self-flagellation as far as I'm concerned ;-)

Thanks for the idea,

Jessi

Just a question, but is it possible to connect the external hard drive to
the LC 520 and use it to perform the install? Then reconnect the external
drive to the Plus. I imagine you will have to sit through a couple of
desktop rebuilds.

Steve
