It would probably have to get "VERY" cold down there for the cold to
damage anything
other than the battery.  If the battery freezes it could burst (but it
would have to get down to like -20degrees before even that would
happen).

The only thing I could think of as being a danger would be moisture. 
Cold weather can condense the last bit of moisture in the air.  This
is why te winter is so dry.  But your basement would trap moisture
which would make it more damp than a lot of other areas of your house.
 Moisture is only a problem if you turn damp equipment on, as it can
cause shorts that could destroy the machine.  Also, from a collection
standpoint, you could end up with a mildewed case, so avoiding
moisture would be ok.

Really I think it would be fine.  Oh yeah, you may want to let them
warm up to room temperature before turning them on at the end of their
stay in your basement as cold can reduce the effectivess of the
phosphor in the picture tube.
