The LEDs are only to show the _status_ of the circuit. The modem now controls a relay which turns on and off a lamp or other item in the house by eventually controlling a larger relay (if required) I have so far tested it by controlling the on/off state of a small DC motor, and it has proved to serve its purpose (to control one item i/o) Yes, eventuallty I hope to trash the modem and convert the actual serial code instead of doing it the "cheap way."
