The LEDs are only to show the _status_ of the circuit.  The modem now
controls a relay which turns on and off a lamp or other item in the
house by eventually controlling a larger relay (if required) I have so
far tested it by controlling the on/off state of a small DC motor, and
it has proved to serve its purpose (to control one item i/o)  Yes,
eventuallty I hope to trash the modem and convert the actual serial code
instead of doing it the "cheap way."
