I surf, if you can call it that, on a classic using a dynalink scsi-ethernet adapter so I hope the answer is yes. Do you need tcp/ip for the job? Answer: no. I can only guess the Asante product will do the same as the Intel one.
OS7.1 would be better suited to the task and yes you can install tcp/ip on that as well unless several quadra's around here are very wrong.
