The dishwasher treatment tends to solve the boot problems with a pretty good rate of success. But the lack-of-sound problem is not improved by dishwashing the logic board. The SE/30 logic board has similar issues, and may be easier to work on if you were going to try to replace caps. The archives of my blog from about a year ago describes the results of dishwashing 12 compact Mac logic boards.
