I have a similar problem with a classic the sound is very quiet various
startup problems got worse especially if the machine had been on a while I
couldn't turn it off and then on again without seeing the remnants of what
was last on screen still there but with random corruptions, I would have to
leave the machine off for ages before I could restart it and also the
Serial ports eventually gave in.

It is certainly a logic board problem as a new board solved all the issues,
what would be useful is a way to test the capacitors to see which ones are
the problem, does anyone know what electrical properties the faulty
capacitors exhibit?
