Hi Roger,

the question mark icon means either your SE/30 does not have a valid system
folder on its hard disk or it does not find the hard disk at all for
whatever reason (bad disk, bad cable, faulty SCSI setup for ID or
termination). So to start your quest you'll need either a set of system
disks (6.0.3 or better, 7.1 recommended) or an external device with an
appropriate system folder on it. If you don't have a Mac of corresponding
vintage (i.e. floppy-capable) to make the disks, check the pickle's FAQ at
http://www.macfaq.org/index.shtml and Gamba's
http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2 for a primer of the how-tos of making an
old Mac work using a PC. For checking your SCSI setup get Robert Polic's
robust SCSI Probe 3.5 version or the sophisticated v.5.2. And don't forget
to keep us posted about your progress!

Cheers, OM
