Pioneer makes (made?) a 10x SCSI-2 slot load DVD (DVD-305S), but is full sized, not slim-line.

Forgive me if I'm covering trodden ground. Bit, I've been cursorily
following this quest of yours and with this last statement, decided I should
weigh in -- do yourself a favor and get a PowerBook drive. They are smaller,
quieter, cooler and allow you some internal expansion room. Internal SCSI
adapters are plentiful for them, so no worries about compatibility. An
internal SCSI PB drive might actually be easier and cheaper to find. I put
one in my CC with CD-Rom modification because there was no room for the
CD-ROM and standard internal SCSI drive. In my case, I just Velcro-ed the
sucker to the chassis, but you can get a PowerBook HD chassis and mount that
to the CC's if you are concerned about stability. My next step is to go to
an internal IDE support upgrade so I can add a DVD drive to use the CC as TV
(I don't think there were any SCSI DVDs). Good luck.

Now to find a hard disk and cut that back panel...
