Ok, thanks..  That is what I thought when I saw the ~16MHz crystal.  I was 
hoping it only controlled the main CPU..   Is there any way to get a faster 
FPU, say on an accelerator card?   I read that in some of the later models 
you could remove the mainboard FPU if you had a faster one on your 
accelerator card.

AFAIK, it won't result in a faster machine. Even if the new chip is rated 
to
run at 25 Mhz, the SE/30's system clock runs at 16 Mhz, and thus the FPU 
will
run at 16 Mhz no matter how high it is rated :-( .
