Just the FPU would make little or no difference. What you are really looking to do is overclock your SE/30. The home of leet clocking skillz is the Land of the Rising Sun. I'm sure if you look hard enough some mad Japanese bloke will have found a way to overclock an SE/30 - or will find one for you if you ask him nicely enough. I've seen overclocked Performa 5200s, FFS! They'll do /anything./ Or perhaps you should challenge them to do it. Or simply put up a rather vague webpage with some faked screenshots and benchmarks and wait for an enraged hardware hacker to try to outdo you...
