Of course! The Lisa was the first "compact" and all-in-one Apple. It's less
than an inch taller and barely over an inch longer than the Color Classic
and the width is over an inch less than two 128ks side by side. If Steve
Jobs had not been kicked off the Lisa project, this list might well be
called the Compact Lisa list (of course Job's tried to change the Mac's name
to Bicycle, so the Lisa might have finally given way to something else with
Job's at the helm, perhaps even Macintosh, cause you know he would have
initially found out about Jef Raskin's project and absorbed it to become
"Lil' Lisa", or the original "Mac Mini", but thanks to IBM it would have
never been "Mac Jr."). In a lot of ways, it resembles more closely the LC
5xx series, mainly due to its larger size, advanced features: multi-tasking,
sleep, etc. (and eventually 640x480 screen mod). But, from strict screen
measurement the Lisa desktop is 8.1"x5.9" (720x342) wysiwyg compared to the
Mac's 7.1"x4.8" (512x364) -- very similarly "compact" and much smaller than
the LC series screens which seemed to abandon wysiwg in favor of size. And
since it runs using Mac Works, the entire Mac System software from 1.0 to
6.03, I say that puts it squarely into the Compact territory. Even the Color
Classic is on the list by default because of it's form factor, since it only
runs System 7.1 and higher and has a whole different set of issues than do
the 128k through Classic II (running 6.0.8L). Of course if more Lisas had
been sold and run as Lisa's, it would rightly have its own list because the
operating system was so so far ahead of even Mac's System 6 and had nothing
to do with System 7, even though that is it's the most direct legacy.
