There once was a time when the link to the FAQ was posted at the end of each email that was sent out from the list, and now I am wishing I had it bookmarked.

If someone has the link, please post it again to the list. My question is likely addressed by the FAQ, and I'll look there. My old 512k's internal floppy drive is so stiff that when I put in a disk, the disk cannot be inserted fully so that it "engages" and drops in. It will only go in the first stage of the insertion operation. When you put pressure on the disk, the Mac returns the "disk unreadable" message and asks you if you want to initialize or eject the disk. The disk boots fine from the external 400k drive.
