With the intention of making this task as straightforward as I can, can
anyone advise on what must have been done many times already...

I have an '86 plus which I've just got back to working order (4MB RAM, 20MB
HDD - what a buzz) and now I'm done with the screwdrivers I need to try and
get some software onto it. Here's what I do have:

Ethernet network, shared internet access through a gateway, bunch of PC's
and a G3 iMac running OS9.2, OS X .1/.2/.3 and .4 (it's a test machine). I
have a 7200(?) running OS8 (I think) tucked away in a cupboard, but no
ethernet transceiver at the moment.

Given that the plus has only got the original sales pack of system discs
(sys 6) what's the bare minimum I need (and is it possible) to hook up to
the local network for either terminal access to the OSX iMac, or ideally FTP
access to the outside world. I know that one of the first things to get a
hold of is an Asante EN/SC or similar with drivers - beyond this I'm
struggling. This is really an isolated little machine right now, with diddly
squat residing on the HD, and no floppies which I can pull out of a box
(looooong gone - though I may have some CDs with 68K file archives on)

As it's generally a test environment, I'm not precious about the PCs - these
can be re-built with 2000 Server, 2003 Server, Linux etc.

It has been 15 years or so since I messed about with Macs to the extent that
I need to now, so any advice (like 'give it up now fatboy') would be
gratefully accepted.

Anyone help with making the shopping list?

Ian
