Hello all, I have a Mac plus and I just received my extra RAM in the

Noah,

The Plus didn't have a self-discharging CRT, so yes, you could hurt yourself.

This site tells how to make a discharge tool that works for any compact Mac:
        http://www.biwa.ne.jp/~shamada/fullmac/repairEng.html

Do that and listen for the loud "pop," which tells you it was discharged. If it didn't pop, either you didn't do it right or it has been unplugged for so long that it naturally discharged. If you want to be sure, plug it back in (put the back clover on again if you're really worried) for a moment and power it on and back off. Then try discharging again.
