Just as long as the Mac OS 8.6 machine has a built in floppy drive and not a USB floppy drive it should just work. My dad once had a program on his 486 with win 3.1.1 and DOS 6.22 called Mac-In-Dos that allowed him to read Mac OS disks... I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work with 800k DD disks though since the drive/controller isn't capable of the kind of formating used to get 800k out of a DD floppy... that and it proably wouldn't work on a new version of Windows.
