very cool scrollbars indeed! they could make them even better by adding a feature to make my skype, vidalia, hplip, vlc, keepassx... icons reappear. I guess the "Ubuntu Desktop experience team" guys all work from the tty console and they do not have these "small" problems of desktop users. Not to speak for the guy that wanted to practice in C++ using compiz instead of "hello world".
