I got a similar problem here with an Intel GM965, also in Ubuntu 11.04. I was trying to install the games from the Humble Indie Bundle. At first I installed Penumbra and it ran really smoothly. After that, I installed World of Goo, but when I tried to run it I got a screen with something like a very thick black border with the top left quarter of my wallpaper on the center of it. Gish also ran fine at first (it starts at windowed mode), but after I changed the game graphical options to fullscreen and restarted the game I got the same weird screen as before. Aquaria ran a blank screen after the installation. Then I started to get the weird or the blank screen even when I tried to play Penumbra.
What I noticed is that if a game started in windowed mode and afterwards I set it to fullscreen everything went fine, but if a game already started at fullscreen I got a blank screen. It happened both in Unity and Gnome2. I think a temporary workaround could be to edit the configs of those games with fullscreen defaults so that they start windowed. After a long time looking for a solution, I decided to uninstall World of Goo and see if it worked out, and it did. All the other games started running correctly in fullscreen, default or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760322 Title: Video freezes when playing fullscreen OpenGL games on HP ProBook 4520s To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/760322/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
