It does indeed sound like an invisible window problem, which I thought
was fully fixed by now...

Matt, please hit Alt+Tab and look to see if the shape/position of the
switcher window matches that of the dead zone for you.

Please also run:
    xwininfo -all
Then click on the "dead" area and attach a copy of the output to this bug.
