hmm, unfortunately, restarting compiz seems to have gotten rid of the dead zone/invisible window. I did try xwininfo before restarting compiz (but forgot to grab the output!), and the shape was very close to that of the switcher window. If this problem is well-known, is there something I can do to try to trigger the bug again, after which I will report back w/ the xwininfo output?
