I've now tested my experimental XDamageReport changes and found they provide no improvement here. But that's with NVIDIA, and they never did provide much improvement with the NVIDIA driver. Likewise, skipping damage events in unity itself provides no benefit.
I did make a startling observation though... If you've never opened the Dash then you will get 10-20% higher frame rates than if you have ever opened the Dash since logging in. That's huge. But it only accounts for about half the slowdown I observe with unityshell loaded. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988079 Title: Much slower OpenGL frame rates with unityshell loaded, than plain compiz To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/988079/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
