At Last!!! My desktop is once again as smooth as silk.
Thank you very much mia1dolfan, for making sense of everything. I did have 1 issue... After I restarted Compiz, my window controls were gone. The top tool bar was there, (The one above the file/edit/view bar) but there was not any buttons for close, minimize, maximize. I freaked out for a minute, but then cooler heads prevailed, and I restarted the computer. Worked like a charm. For the record, I am running...
