I'm on Ubuntu 12.10 using SNA.
Tear is still present on video playback (mainly with VLC) with
compositor enabled or disabled. (va-api enabled/disabled no changes as
well)
this is my xorg.conf video options:
Option "AccelMethod" "sna"
Option "SwapbuffersWait" "false"
Option "TearFree" "true"
Just want to add that TearFree option is not working as this command
shows:
:~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |grep free
[ 5336.772] (**) intel(0): "Tear free" disabled
