Probably that is due to the good library from Lucas Lew. With it, and just a bit of tinkering, it is possible to make a player beat the 1500 elo mark. My own Halgo-1.6-500k seems to have stabilized around 1530, and it does nothing but standard MC via the library, and a few minor tricks (adds the winning score to the winning percentage, divided by so large a factor that it can never affect the ordering of the averages); it also prunes some moves that leads it to passing earlier in the game, and it can resign obviously hopeless position. But no tricks to decide which moves to study, no penalties for self-ataris, and so on. - Heikki -- Heikki Levanto "In Murphy We Turst" heikki (at) lsd (dot) dk _______________________________________________ computer-go mailing list [email protected] http://www.computer-go.org/mailman/listinfo/computer-go/
