I'm extremely comfortable with C and I think the server CGOS runs on is one of those virtual machines without a whole lot of power or memory. There is no way I'm going to bring up a java runtime.
C is the just about the only reasonable way to write a truly efficient program, in terms of both MEMORY and CPU. I have an event loop library that makes this kind of thing pretty simple, I already have a way to manage games with legal move generation, etc. And I already understand the scheduling algorithm, etc. So basically I don't have to design this beast, I just have to put the pieces together. I can write code in C faster than just about any other language - not because C is good that way, but because I'm always in the reference manuals for everything else. - Don On Wed, Jun 3, 2009 at 8:45 AM, Christian Nentwich < [email protected]> wrote: > Don, > > you're probably on the right track with the database.
