Indeed. I ran Valkyria for 95 seconds. It used about 400k playouts
with a 31 ply PV but with an unusal amount of junk moves. It give 70%
to black.
In the PV X kills O starting with G2 becuase white plays tenuki at B9.
But.. for a moment I could not live on the left side. Valkyria kills
me brutaly starting with X D3 . For example X D3 O F2 X B3 OC3 X C2
and O has to connect at F4 then X B2 O A4 XG3 and X wins the semeai.
But often it plays really bad moves and let me live because it thinks
the right side dies.
I was convinced that white is dead but then made the exchange XJ4 for
OB9 which is enough to remove any confusion for Valkyria. Now play is
competent for both colors. And connecting early at O F3 instead of OC3
in the sequence above. O has then an easier Job capturing the black
stones in the corner. White lives but it really a long and hard fight.
Maybe I just confused everything but it is a really nice and elegant position!
I just need to teach Valkyria to play B9 (which is computationally
costly I am afraid) when it has to and I think it will be quite strong
in this position.
