Most examples I have seen, including Aja's: ------------------ | . O O O O . . . . | | O O X X O O O O O | | O X . X X X X X X | | O X X O O O O O X | | O O X O . O . O X | | . O X O O O O O X | | . O X X X X X X . | | . . W O O O O X X | | . . . . . . O O O | ------------------
or even with more false eyes: ------------------ | . X X X X X X X . | | B O O O O O O O X | | X O X X X O . O X | | X O X . X O . O X | | X O . X . X O O X | | X O O X X X . O X | | X O . O . . . O X | | X O O O O O O O X | | . X X X X X X X . | ------------------ should be played correctly when surrounded, if the program has a self atari policy. Even in the 2nd case, 2 corners can be played, but when B plays the third, then it sets the entire group in self-atari. A self atari policy should avoid that. So if the playout policy surrounds the groups first (most of the times) because the false eyes have very low priority, the playout policy should get the result ok. Maybe it is not so hard after all.
