I had very similar issues when I had a stick of RAM going out... Take out the old stick and see if it still does it... Also, if you have dual channel memory, make sure both sticks are the same manufacturer, size, and speed, difference in those will cause problems like yours...
Last but not least, done all you virus and adware scans?
