My suggestion to you is to run a decent antivirus scan, updated, and then a spyware's scan(using Spybot S&D for eg.). when you are finished, download IE7, and check if it happens too...if that is the case here, I would recommend a fresh installation, or atleast a repair installation. You need to make a diagnostic check over the harddrive....something like chkdsk...mandatory inbetween times.
