Sounds like you already did all the troubleshooting you can do with a
mouse... You can't set frequencies or anything, they either work, or
they don't work. If they don't, re battery, re sync (lil button on
bottom of mouse, or on receiver, or both). And if it still doesn't
work, return it, burn it, throw at a hated co worker, or just throw it
away. They are cheap these days, my 60 dollar mouse is now 10 to 15
bucks on Ebay, thats where I got it.

If you are nerd like me though, you would try to take it apart and see
if the lens is dirty (or track ball) see if there are any loose
connections, or broken parts that could be super glued, there's not
really a standard for stuff like that though...
