OK, I admit it, I'm an idiot. I am relatively good with computers BUT I am not good enough to understand a lot of the tech language that's out there so when I screw up something.......I do it good.
ANYways - long story long, my son asked me to "fix" his computer. He was running it without an antivirus (no-brainer) and got it all loaded with viruses. My solution - format! So that's what I did. I honestly can't tell you how......or what I did because it was several months ago and I'm just too busy these days to have the patience required for this process. As long as I have a floppy drive I'm relatively comfortable formatting but this one didn't have a floppy so I had to search for information on the net. Everything seemed to work out fine and I had it working. All I needed to do was install a few pieces of software to get him up and running but that's where things went terribly wrong. I got it online and downloaded a driver for his sound card which took all of 5 minutes. Well, that's all that some loser who sits in his basement thinking up ways to $%&! up people's computers needed. I got some stupid re-direct virus and couldn't get rid of it. My solution - format again! This time it didn't want to work so I thought I'd try re-installing windows which seemed to work fine until the welcome screen asked me for a password. WHAAAAAATTTTT!!! This never happened before. Dy'a think I can remember the password, that is if I've ever even had it. So my question is, is there anybody out there who will take pity on me and give me a hand fixing this mess, that is, once you are done laughing hysterically. I feel bad because my son is still without a computer and now, it's his genius Mother's fault this time. Is there any "formatting for dummies" info somewhere that I can get my inept hands on so I can maybe do it right this time. I would really appreciate some help here. Like Joe Biden's Mom says......."Everybody can fail but nobody has the right to give up" so I won't. :-) --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Computer Tech Support" group.
