Thanks Engineman,

I had a bit more of a look and discovered if I hold "ESC" then press
"F1" when the message comes up it gets me to BIOS.
I've got a Toshiba Tecra.

It turns out that there is a "Legacy Emulation" setting on the Laptop
that is enabled.
There is no "Legacy Emulation or Support" setting on the Desktop.

Is the "Legacy" setting known as anything else?
