Thanks for clearing that up. Now, what are the error message(s) that
occur when you try to burn. Also what are the version Number(s) of
which software did you try (some versions of Nero, and Win Media
Player did have problems with writing to USB audio disks). Also are
they .wav or .mp3 that you are trring to burn.
Just in case... you might want to look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306319
to see if it is helpful (but I suspect not)' or look at http://club.cdfreaks.com
(they have literally dozens of forum discussions about not burning
audio but no problems with data or copying)

And, if you google 'unable to burn audio cd' you end up with thousands
of references.
Also, which windows are you running? (98/2000/ME/XP/2003/Vista/7)
