Hello, I am looking for a webcam or ethernet security camera that can do 3 things below. It's just exhausting for me to research all the options available to satisfy these conditions, and any help is appreciated.
>From my basement window, I need to monitor the external of my house due to some neighbor misdemeanors. However, I really don't need to have the video captured 24 hrs x 7 as it may blow up my hard disk. 1 still picture captured every 5 seconds is good enough. The only connection nearby this bassement window is a Switch. I know a lot of webcams just capture video constantly, and still picture capturing would be done Manually. 1) A camera that can do video and still picture of at least 640x480 in both cases. 2) I need this camera to auto capture still images at a slow rate, like say 1 picture every 5 seconds. Or in terms of Video frame rate, it's like 0.2 frame/second. I would be fine with 1 picture/second or 1 fps for the video. 3) If this camera is USB port, then I have an issue being my PC is probably 50 feet away from the location of this webcam. The good news is, this webcam is near an ethernet port of a Switch. So, the solution would be either I get a 50 feet USB cable, or probably get a USB server where the webcam can connect to, with the USB server connected to the existing Switch. I am not sure if this is a viable solution at all since I doubt the USB server can enable the webcam to be shared across the internal network. If this camera is ethernet port, great, I have that Switch nearby.
