I agree with nitros7, it sounds like spyware is your problem and
not viruses, and Adaware is the best free spyware remover out there. I
just want to add one more tip. Spybot also has a free version but is
not quite as good as Adaware. However, Adaware does have conflicts
with some programs that I have run into here at the college. Also,
their free version is getting harder to find and keep updated without
getting a bunch of pop ups asking you to upgrade. So what I do is
create a portable version of Spybot by simply installing it on a
machine and then transferring the Spybot folder under programs onto a
flash drive. This allows you to run Spybot on any machine without
actually having to install the program on that machine. It comes in
handy to carry this around on a flash drive. I do the same thing with
CCleaner and Defraggler. I have found that going into the hidden
folder "local settings" and cleaning out the cookies, history, temp,
and temporary internet files in each profile and then running the 3
programs above will take care of about ninety percent of adware
problems and also slow running machines. (also deleting any
unnecessary profiles is another good idea.)
