Finally got around to dismantling the TV.  Upon plugging in there was
a metallic clicking sound coming from the power supply, and in the
general area of the clicking there is a capacitor with a slightly
bowed end.

Instead of soldering a new capacitor in I chickened out and ordered a
new power supply (BN44-00191B).  After installing I'll update.
