If the laptop does not come with an inbuilt modem, you could always
get a PCMCIA (cardbus) card modem so it is not a major stumbling
block, in fact I have all 3 cards for taking with me - the modem, the
wired LAN, and wireless) so that wherever I am I can connect in some
manner.
