jayseeblue, To find out what sound card you have depends on what OS you are using, but assuming it's Windows XP or Windows Vista, you can see which audio card you're using in the device manager.
I don't think your issue is related to the card though if you say CDs play fine and it's only with Skyplayer. I'd say your issue is with Skyplayer, perhaps audio settings within the application.
