I think your biggest stumbling block here is your "fairly cheap"
definition. I know I was being facetious about the HDTV but hoped that
you would get the drift that if you have a newer 24" or larger
Television why not make use of it (a great deal of the newer ones have
an s-video input and audio inputs) rather than going out and buying
some not so "fairly cheap" monitor since most monitors that fit your
criteria of having built in speakers are few and far between to find
and especially if you figure in "fairly cheap" (what is it? $200,
$400, $750 or $100 or lower?)
