If the password for the screensaver is enabled then you should require a password to log into the computer as well....
It should be the same password, almost 99% of the time anyways. The laptop should have came with some Restore / Operating system CDs, I would just pop one in and reboot the machine, if you are stuck on the password screen just hold down the power button until it turns off.
