I've "Tinkered" with Macs. I've not only upgraded Memory, I've
upgrade hard drives, added internal modems, added Ethernet and other
cards. What I've like with the Mac is you get get the specs so you
know what you need and where it goes. Because a Mac most often
has has more out of the box than a PC, there is less need to "tinker."
That said, I believe that most users (Mac and PC) don't "Tinker."

I don't have any criticism to offer of Macs, they are very nice

I think a more accurate statement might be that "Mac users don't tend
to be _tinkerers_". I am a scientist and I do a LOT of experiments. I
just choose to focus my energy on experiments that are meaningful and
likely to help society and not on tinkering with my computer.
